THE B M T Property Inspections

BMT Property Inspections has been started by Brett Tanis following hundreds of inspections with a large franchise organisation and feeling the need to break free of the restraints and inflexibilities involved. BMT offer fully independent Timber Pest Inspections and reports, BMT do not offer treatments so we are not trying to find a problem so we can sell you a treatment solution. BMT just give you a top inspection and report.

We are here to help property purchasers with Termite Inspections, Timber Pest Inspections and home owners that are worried they may have a problem with timber pests.

We also look after investors with annual inspections. Experience has taught us that investors can be the most shocked that there investment has been damaged by termites that have gone along sometimes for years without being reported by the tenants and not picked up by the property management inspections.

About Termites

If you found termites at your property, they may be dangerous for your home and could feed on structural timbers that may compromise your homes structure's integrity. There is also the chance that they aren't a threat to your home, or can be eradicated quite easily (some even by simply kicking over the nest). BMT Property Inspections can advise on the best course of action if termites are found just contact your local BMT team member on the number listed below.

The reason for this attention to detail is because termites cause more economic damage in Australia each year than fire. This is a sobering thought when coupled with the knowledge that termites that cause this damage are located everywhere in Australia except Tasmania. So, if you are anywhere else, you need to be vigilant about the fact that your house is continually at risk of termite attack.

Many homes are equipped with a number of preventative measures from chemical barrier treatments, to termite caps on house stumps, using treated pine, to monitoring stations. While each of these can help to mitigate the risk, that is all. These are preventative measures at best. The purpose of these strategies is to deter the termites or to get them to come out in the open so that your regular competent termite inspections can see the evidence of passage and stop damage before it’s too late.

Annual Termite Inspections

According to Australian Standard AS3660.2-2000, “regular, competent inspections should be carried out at least on an annual basis, but more frequent inspections are strongly recommended.” -AS3660.2-2000 Termite Management Part 2: In and around existing buildings and structures. Home owners, you should be getting a termite inspection regularly.
